A post about finding awesome from my my journal during the year of questioning faith. I explained here why I’m sharing the journal.
Week 1, Day 3
A friend posted a video of an aerobics instructor from the 80s today. It was hilarious. The woman’s workout involved holding her breath for several seconds at a time. I suppose it could have been an ab workout. Maybe.
At any rate, it was hilarious.
Skinny woman.
Teased hair.
Leotard with thigh openings cut so high they were nearly to her breasts.
Leggings. Peach leggings.
And a peach terry cloth headband.
I posted a response of:
This.
Is.
Awesome.
via GIPHY (This isn’t quite the one I saw – she’s in blue here – but she’s pretty awesome, too.
And, because I’m not in Christian world anymore, I got to NOT have a twinge of guilt that I’d called someone other than the silent deity “awesome.”
I have heard two sermons in my life about the sinfulness of calling anything other than god or something he did, “Awesome.”
But today I embraced my sarcastic side and called that leotard-wearing, 80’s embodiment of working out, “Awesome.”
It felt awesome.
